Founded by John Friend in 1997, Anusara Yoga is a powerful hatha yoga system that unifies the Tantric philosophy of intrinsic goodness with Universal Principles of Alignment. Anusara teachers are highly trained and skillful in teaching asana (postures) while making the physical practice relevant to how we live our lives off the mat. One of the fastest growing styles of Yoga in the world today, Anusara is a celebration of the heart that reminds us to ‘look for the good first,’ to align with our Divine nature and to always make our highest choices. Linking intention, physical practice, knowledge and sensitivity, Anusara Yoga offers a potent formula for living a balanced, vibrant life.

Anusara (an-u-sar-a) is a Sanskrit word meaning “flowing with Grace.” The name was inspired by the Kularnava Tantra 14.38

Shaktipata-anusarena shishyonugraham arhati
“By entering the current of Divine Sakti’s descent into the heart, the true disciple becomes capable of receiving grace.
~ Kularnava Tantra 14.38

“The highest intention of practicing Anusara Yoga is to align with the Divine. As we deepen our alignment with the Supreme, we step deeper into the flow of Grace. It is through the revelatory power of Grace that we awaken to the truth that this Divine flow is our essential nature. This higher knowledge naturally fuels our deepest desire to lovingly serve the creative flow of life through each breath and posture in our yoga practice. On our yoga mat we artistically offer our individual light and our unique music with the heartfelt prayer of adding more beauty, love, and goodness to the world.” ~ John Friend

Astanga Yoga

This slow-flow vinyasa style draws from Astanga’s 1st, 2nd, and a little of the 3rd series. Enjoy the creative infusion of variety and modifications to make the poses accessible and fun. The main focus will remain on the breath and attention to practicing in a therapeutic, mindful way.

This is not a beginner’s class. We suggest a regular, consistent practice for 6 months and have no major injuries.

Vinyasa

Our 1-hour vinyasa classes will focus on what we lovingly call the 7 S’s: Sweat, Serenity, Strength, Suppleness, Stamina, Stretching, and Stability.

Vinyasa is a Sanskrit word meaning moment-to-moment awareness. It is a flowing style of yoga characterized by sequences of poses linked together by the breath.

Besides being known for their creativity in sequencing, Bindu vinyasa teachers will focus on one key alignment each class that will encourage your continual progress on the mat (as well as that all-important fun factor!). You’ll leave happy, energized, and purified by a good sweat.

Vinyasa classes are appropriate for continuing students and beginners who are fit (exercise regularly) with no major injuries.
