Ashtanga Vinyasa

This slow-flow vinyasa style class draws from Ashtanga’s 1st, 2nd, and a little of the 3rd series. It’s a creative flow with modifications to make the poses accessible and fun. The main focus will remain on the breath and attention to practicing in a therapeutic, mindful way. This is not appropriate for beginners, but is perfect for students who have been practicing for 6 months. No major injuries, please.

This class is ideal for continuing students and those newer to yoga who consider themselves fit. The classes are moderately paced with an emphasis on proper alignment, building endurance, flexibility and vibrancy in the body/mind. Each class will end with a guided relaxation as you shift into savasana (total relaxation).

Yoga+Walk+Weights

At last the class that does it all, and it is appropriate for anyone who has been practicing yoga for 6 months or more. This mixed-level class strengthens bones and muscles, increases flexibility, and supports a healthy heart. Using free weights (totally optional) and yoga to build stability, vitality and endurance, students progress safely, at their own pace to gain maximum benefit from each session. Each class begins with warmups and, weather permitting, we go outside for interval walk/jogging. You get to choose whether you walk or do a combination of walk/jog. Then we practice alignment-based yoga and breath work while using 3,4 or 5 lb free weights to strategically strengthen arms, legs, core and the back body.
