Yoga on The Green: Life is Heart

Yoga on The Green: Life is Heart

Start with big fun…

Yoga on the Green began 5 years ago, on a golden sunlit fall afternoon. We began with the simple idea of having a giant outdoor yoga class on the Village Green in Davidson. How fun would THAT be, we thought.

It was. But it wasn’t just fun – it was a rocking festival of positive energy – the whole community coming together to do a practice that lifts our hearts and gives our bodies ease and calms our minds. Together. Teachers had to get used to speaking into microphones ~ and yogis young and old got to have the fun of practicing in the grass, looking up at the sky.

Add a worthy cause…

This free event raised donations to support the Davidson Farmer’s Market, and over the years has focused on the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, which allows shoppers at the Market to use food stamps to buy fresh, healthy, locally grown produce, meats and eggs.

For the past 2 years, we have been thrilled to have the partnership of Carolinas Health System, in support of our vision of wellness through yoga, healthy food, and taking excellent care of our bodies.

Align with your heart…

This year, our focus is on the heart. In yoga, we’re always trying to keep our hearts wide open, to feel more, be more fully ourselves, do more of what makes life precious. And keeping a healthy heart is key to staying healthy and vital overall. Life, truly, is all about the heart. Life IS heart.

This special event is always just a little bit different. We’re so excited and honored to have Chef Clark Barlowe, of Heirloom Restaurant, on hand to give a cooking demo using locally-sourced, healthy ingredients. We’ll have some physicians present to answer questions. A chance to shop a little. And we’ll be holding it DURING the Farmer’s Market, to bring the community even closer together as we enjoy the market and the bounty of fall.
