RYT-200 | Teacher
I’ve been a student of Yoga since college (many, many years ago), practicing Transcendental Meditation, as well as the physical practice of yoga. My serious practice began about 22 years ago, after experiencing a debilitating back injury. Yoga became part of my healing process; the benefits were transforming. I then realized that my life needed to include this wonderful practice of physical healing as well as emotional and spiritual healing. I began attending weekly classes as well as many workshops and retreats all over the country. Studying with Desiree Rumbaugh, Suzie Hurley, Sharon Neubauer, Betsey Downing, Heather Schwartz, John Friend, Kathleen Hogan, Dee Gold, and more recently with Kelley Gardner, as well as studying yoga philosophy and meditation with Douglas Brooks, Paul Mueller Ortega, Bill Mahony, and Sally Kempton. Ten years ago, I completed the Anusara Immersion program taught by Sharon Neubauer, and, seven years ago, I completed a 200 hour Yoga teacher training certification program from Inner Reaches Yoga and Health in Gaithersburg, Maryland, which allowed me to also be certified with Yoga Alliance, as an RYT-200 Yoga Teacher.
Four years ago, I retired from being a Nationally Certified Therapeutic Massage Therapist. For 17 years I worked with clients recovering from injuries, as well as those in need of stress reduction and serious relaxation. The classes I teach combine my love of yoga and my experience as a Massage Therapist in order to help my students begin to move with ease, while becoming strong and flexible. I love introducing people to Yoga, and for those who have been practicing for some time, to continue their love of Yoga. I teach light heartedly with a strong emphasis on alignment, which I believe keeps us safe as we move through our practice as well as our everyday lives. I continue to consider myself a student of Yoga…always learning.
