Yoga on the Green: Nourish your Soul

posted 09/19/17No comments

Yoga for a Cause

This year, The Bindu and Whole Foods Market celebrate the 6th annual Yoga on the Green, a celebration of yoga and healthy living that raises donations to support the Davidson Farmer’s Market. Your gifts support the Market’s Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, which helps shoppers at the Market to use food stamps to buy fresh, healthy, locally grown produce, meats and eggs – and even matches their funds up to a certain amount! We are always so stoked to be supporting such a great cause.

Nourish Your Soul

Our theme, Nourish Your Soul, reflects all the ways that we nourish our best and brightest selves – not only through yoga and healthy lifestyles, but through spiritual and centering practices, giving our time and resources to help our communities be healthier, supporting local farmers, and so much more. We’ll have wellness practitioners of all kinds on hand to talk to you about their practices … nutrition, chiropractic, acupuncture, and more … and an opportunity to learn about our work with Hinds Feet Farms, a program for adult survivors of traumatic brain injuries.

This year, we have beautiful, artist-designed, locally made “Nourish Your Soul” tanks to commemorate the event – free with a $25 donation to the Farmers’ Market. Mens’ t-shirts will also be available with the same fantastic design. Reserve yours today by registering online. Supplies are limited and these will go fast!

This is Yoga

At The Bindu, our passion is bringing yoga to everybody, regardless of size, shape, or ability.

Emcee’d by Sally Frank, owner of The Bindu, this year’s Yoga on the Green will feature two free yoga classes – Beginner Yoga, taught by Sari Weston, the Studio Director, and Vinyasa, taught by Kelley Gardner, the founder of The Bindu.

There will be a Kids’ Zone run by Meredith Luber and Wendy Wilson of Pioneer Springs Community School, including yoga classes for kids at the same time as the adult classes, as well as a mindfulness area for kids.

We’re also going to make good on our promise to make yoga accessible to EVERYONE by offering a Chair Yoga segment at 4:30 pm. Come join our regular chair yogis from Hinds Feet Farms and check out what it’s like to do yoga in a chair!

And More…

Because this is part fundraiser and part celebration, we’re offering so many ways to enjoy the event:

• 2 free yoga classes and a chair yoga demo
• Kids’ Yoga and Mindfulness Zone – bring the whole family!
• Learn all about healthy living with our wellness-based sponsors
• Make your own trail mix (FREE) with Whole Foods
• Purchase snacks or food from Up Dog Kombucha, King of Pops, Clean Juice, and Pita Pit
• Order a picnic delivered to the Green from Pickled Peach (wine or beer available) or bring your own
• Spread out a blanket, feast, laugh, and listen to Billy Jones and the Pocket!

Make your life easy by signing up in advance and ordering a picnic or just show up with your mat on the Green and check in with us at the registration table. Either way, we’ll be glad YOU are there.
