Here And Now

Out of nowhere and into the void there came a voice. A sound, really, not discernable to those who heard it or tried to understand its phrase. To us it came from afar, but to those up close they say it was deafening, and more of a wail and groan than speech. Then suddenly, wallowing in the air for hours it seemed, it stopped. The sky seemed to inhale and blow westernly winds that tickled the treetops but did no harm. It was the silence that was then noted, and reports floated about concerned that it was too quiet and must be foreboding. It was in that moment that we started to laugh, and that also went on for some time. In the presence of something, or the absence of others, there is a fine thread woven between. Some minds just have to yearn for an “other” and not just accept what is there as whole in itself. We do hope the restlessness learns to sit still and simply be content in what is here and now.
