The Wave

The wave had traveled a very long time, and a very long ways, to reach where he was at this moment – some days from shore – when he started to ponder what it might be like to marry the sand and be swept into the underbelly of the ocean, joining countless generations just happy to be still and watch the world from above and below, sharing a new purpose and enjoying the relative calm. And the sun, with its brilliant smile, and moon, with its soft caress, put his mind at ease that life, although changed, would hold a peace he hadn’t felt before and unity with his brothers and sisters all around him that he hadn’t recognized before. And so he got excited, and conspired with his neighbors to join together and make one big final gesture, reaching up to the sky as high as they could, and crashing down in laughter before reaching the land and taking a nap after a lifetime of always trying to move forward and not enjoying those times when life slowed down and held few surprises.
