The pomegranate fell from the tree and split open to reveal is many gifts upon the earth. First the squirrel, with Ram’s stripes, found the treasure God had given him, then the wren and her sisters, who carried its seeds far and wide, and the worms even had their fun in turn as the ground absorbed its juices. For only in giving its all did the fruit fulfill its destiny, and in that moment was appreciated not only for the beautiful color of its husk, but the goodness that lay inside. God-willing, thought the scholar watching over this, in both mediation and wonder, with eyes half-open. With divine grace, he hoped he could be of equal service to the world one day.
